To celebrate International Women's Day we're looking at some of the most influential women in furniture and interior design here at Redbrick

Orla Kiely - Devoted To, mezzanine floor

Renowned for her bold use of colour and strikingly recognisable designs, Orla Kiely’s iconic motifs have appeared on handbags, stationery, kitchenware, even cars and buses. The Irish fashion designer began her career designing hats whilst studying at the Royal College of Art in London.

The Orla Kiely made-to-order collection at Redbrick features furniture for living spaces, with a versatile range of chairs, sofas, footstools, all upholstered in Orla’s signature patterns and retro palette, channelling the signature mid-century aesthetic synonymous with the designer.

Eleanor Nadimi (One Nine Eight Five) - Heal's, ground floor

ONE NINE EIGHT FIVE is a London-based studio run by founder Eleanor Nadimi. She has created the 'Woman' range of textiles that includes beautiful, hand-drawn prints. Eleanor has also designed the new fabric on the best-selling Heal's Wallis sofa. She is recognised for her innovative prints, colour combinations and dedication to creating British manufactured goods.

Sofie Refer - Funktion Alley, mezzanine floor

Sofie Refer is an internationally awarded Danish lighting designer. She strives to balance simplicity and grandeur and create lighting that has a pure yet sensuous expression. The Anoli pendant from Funktion Alley has a simple drop shaped shade made from either opal or gold tinted mouth-blown glass.

With its simple clean lines and smooth edges it is reminiscent of traditional nordic design, however Anoli is also a bold interior statement.

Ellen Bernhardt & Paola Vella - Calligaris, ground floor

Ellen Bernhardt, born in Germany and Paola Vella, born in Italy, both moved to Milan in 2001.

They met at a design studio in Milan and started their collaboration based on a common vision of design They take inspiration from art and architecture to create a personal yet recognizable style. They have been collaborating with furniture companies such as Calligaris since 2008, developing products and acting as artistic directors.
